Laverne Cox is one of the 15 female trailblazers to be featured on the cover of British Vogue's September issue, notably handpicked by guest editor Meghan Markle herself. The “Orange Is the New Black” actress not only was surprised by it, but she was also totally enamored with the Duchess of Sussex. Not only did she think the former “Suits” star is amazing, but she also thinks she embodies Princess Diana.

Cox recently relayed how she found out she was one of the chosen to be featured in the magazine’s “Forces of Change” issue. Essentially, it involved not just being shocked she was chosen, but also surprised that Markle chose her and wanted to talk to her about it.

“I did not find that out until last week,” Cox shares to People magazine. “[British Vogue editor-in-chief] Edward Enninful called me at 9:30 in the morning and he’s like, ‘I have someone on the phone for you,’ and it was the Duchess of Sussex.”

She described Markle as being lovely. And while awestruck that she was talking to royalty, the trans rights activist did not hold back her admiration for the actress-turned-duchess.

“I did tell her I had been a fan of 'Suits' since the beginning — I had been a fan of hers since then. I just loved her on the show. She just said, ‘Awww.’ She seemed surprised,” Cox recalled.

Cox knows for one that being a transgender and being part of a cover full of strong women is one mean feat, and she told People that it was a dream come true. It was one of her biggest dreams and now it's coming true. She makes history because of this since she will be the first-ever transgender cover star of the prestigious magazine.

Cox also spoke about how she sees Meghan Markle, not just as the actress she idolizes, but the royalty that she is. For her, Markle is a massive inspiration, not only because she is African American, but because she embodies Princess Diana. Cox believes that Prince Harry indeed has chosen a worthy partner because she has the same values as his mother.

“I think a lot about Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana what she meant to so many people,” Cox shared.

“She wanted to help and be of service to the world — it feels like Prince Harry chose a partner who embodies so much of what his mother stood for. Certainly, the Duchess is her own person, but I think about what it means to be of service,” she explained.

Aside from being on the cover of Vogue, Cox is also nominated too for an Emmy. However, a recent interview revealed the actress is too not happy with this. She is overjoyed for being nominated, but still disappointed that until now, she remains the only “transgender actor to ever be nominated for an acting Emmy.” She revealed these feelings on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen."
