Simon Cowell is about to become a father. The 53-year-old "X Factor" judge is reportedly expecting a baby with New York socialite Lauren Silverman.
"She's around 10 weeks along," an insider told Us Weekly. However, the socialite is still technically married to Andrew Silverman, a real estate mogul in New York City and one of Cowell's closest friends.
According to an insider, she supposedly plans to leave her husband to be with the former "American Idol" judge and father of her child.
"Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while," a source told Us Weekly. "As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close."
People Magazine reached an assistant to Cowell's UK rep that barely commented on the matter. "This is a very sensitive issue and all media enquiries are being dealt with by his U.S. attorney," he said.
Silverman and Cowell have been photographed together on several different occasions, including a vacation to St. Barts last year, where the two were joined by their significant others at the time.
Simon Cowell has been very outspoken about having kids, stating he's not cut out to be a dad. "God, no. I couldn't have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls I'd go nuts," he said in 2009. "With kids, you've got a routine you can't escape from. You've got to be up at a certain time. Got to listen. When all you want to do is sit in a corner thinking."
However, when asked again by AOL Music in a 2012 interview, his thoughts on the matter had softened up a little bit.
"I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them," he said. "The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids and I've always dedicated all my life to work, and at 52, I've probably missed the opportunity."
It's seems that it wasn't too late after all.
