The loss of a loved one is one of the hardest blows a person can endure. The pain is even greater if the news comes while at work, and even more so if it happens in front of a live audience. Such was the case for Peruvian TV host Milagros Leiva.
The journalist went viral on social media after learning, during a live broadcast of her show 'Milagros Leiva: Entrevista' on Willax Televisión, that her father had passed away.
Faced with the heartbreaking news, Leiva broke down in tears in front of millions of viewers and had no choice but to leave the set. Before doing so, she shared the tragedy that had shaken her life.
In the now-viral clip, Leiva is seen conducting an interview when she receives the devastating message. On the verge of tears, she admitted she had lost focus on the conversation and needed to leave immediately.
"Doctor, just a moment, Rolo. I must apologize a thousand times and ask for your forgiveness. I haven't been listening. I have to share with the audience what is happening. I'll say it because my audience cares deeply for me," she said, before revealing her situation.

Leiva then informed her loyal viewers that her father had suddenly passed away.
"From this moment on, Kike Montenegro will take over. I need to say this: my father has died, and I have to leave the program," she announced.
Her followers were quick to express their sympathy and support through social media. Messages poured in, such as: "My deepest condolences, Mrs. Milagros. Thank you for trusting your audience to share this moment live; you are incredibly strong," "Take the time you need to cope with this painful moment," "Stay strong, Milagros. Only God knows why things happen," and "May God bring you comfort,"
A temporary absence
Due to her significant loss, Leiva will be stepping away from her television duties for several days. Journalist Maricel Linares will temporarily host the program in her absence.
"Last night, our dear Milagros Leiva received the devastating news of her father's passing. My sincerest condolences to her. Stay strong, Mili. Your entire team and I are here for you and sincerely hope you and your family find healing during this difficult time," Linares said upon assuming the hosting role.
It remains unclear when Leiva will return to her role on the interview show, but she is expected to take several weeks to recover and process her loss.
