A teaching assistant in the Clark County School district is facing a serious sex crime charge after being accused of having a relationship with a high school student.
20-year-old Jerusalem Roman Garcia was arrested on Aug. 23 after law enforcement were told by a student from Eldorado High School that a student was in a relationship with a teacher. Garcia's own younger sister had told the student about the relationship.
The male student, who was then questioned by police, admitted that he connected with Garcia using social media after they met in May at a party.
He stated that he would pick Garcia up from her house as she did not have a car. They went on about 11 dates over the course of 3 months, and they would kiss or "make out" on dates.
Las Vegas police were able to confirm that the number Garcia used to send text messages to the victim was the same number attached to her employee profile.
While Garcia stated that she did not have sex with the student due to her job and their age difference, she told law enforcement that the two were in a "loving" relationship, even admitting that she wanted to continue the relationship after her arrest.
Garcia is due for an in-court status check on Sept. 30.
