Establishing a reputation for creating near indestructible Land Rovers designed to cross any terrain at a high rate of speed, there isn't anything quite like the Bowler. Sure a Porsche GT3 RSR may lap the Nurburgring more quickly, but a Bowler Wildcat could veer right off the track and cut right across Quiddelbach and Herschbroich no problem.
Now, Land Rover has announced that it's officially forming a partnership with Bowler, operating in a new business model what will allow both manufacturers to further collaborate and develop new vehicles.
From the new agreement, Bowler stands to gain increased access to Land Rover components as well as access to the Gaydon, England automaker's R&D support.
In return, Bowler will provide Land Rover with increased publicity and just the sort of boost in racing pedigree necessary for the the automaker to successfully spearhead new markets.
According to Land Rover Experience director Mark Cameron, "Bowler vehicles demonstrate the kind of performance, ride, handling and chassis dynamics that a vehicle powered by Land Rover is capable of when taken to the extreme and liberated of most practical constraints."
Managing director of Bowler Drew Bowler adds, "It is Land Rover's support as well as its technology that has helped Bowler to gain an incredibly strong reputation for extreme off-road performance over the last two decades. With bold and ambitious plans, I'm sure that there are exciting times ahead in which both parties will enjoy positive benefits for our respective brands."
The latest creation from Bowler skunkworks is the EXR based on the Range Rover Sport. Offered in fully FIA compliant competitionguise, the tubular space frame chassis EXR features a highly modified 5.0-liter V8 unit tuned to a regulation 300-hp and 429 lb.-ft. of torque.
A radical and barely road-legal version known as the EXR-S is also offered. Producing an incredible 542-hp and 520 lb.-ft. of torque from a supercharged 5.0 liter V8, the EXR-S sprints from 0-to-60 mph in only 4.2 seconds, quicker than a BMW X6 M or a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Top speed is limited to 155mph.
