To celebrate 50 years of the "Raging Bull," the Italian supercar company unveiled the Lamborghini Egoista one-off concept Saturday.

A wild representation of ludicrous extravagance and absolute savagery, the Lamborghini Egoista is everything the supercar company stands for.

A rare company that has endured obstacles that challenged its existence, Lamborghini was eventually saved from near-bankruptcy by VW Group. At first, Lamborghini loyalists feared Volkswagen would neuter the brand. In truth, the Lamborghini Egoista would never have existed without VW Group design chief Walter De Silva.

"It represents hedonism taken to the extreme. It is a car without compromises," explained De Silva.

Walter De Silva and the Lamborghini design team created an outrageous shape that combines the spirit of a charging bull and the menace of a military aircraft. The side flanks are meant to represent a bull with its horns lowered, preparing to charge. LED lights replace the conventional headlights while the orange side indicators create a "bull's eyes" appearance. For a smooth, organic shape, there are no spoilers on top of the Lamborghini Egoista. Instead, active flaps on the body flip open or close to direct the air over the car.

Embracing a fighter jet theme, the Lamborghini Egoista borrows its design layout from the Apache attack helicopter. Constructed from carbon fiber, aluminum, and aeronautical-spec antiradar materials, the Egoista features a high-tech single-seat cockpit that dramatically announces the driving intent of the car. A flip-up canopy replaces the doors and there is a step-up platform labeled on a body panel as well. Should a driver somehow flip the Lamborghini Egoista, the cockpit can eject in an emergency as well. Stylized red and green aircraft navigation lights brings the fighter jet theme home.

Underneath the Lockheed skunk works body panels lies a dynamite powerplant that might as well be a turbine jet engine. A very modified version of the 5.2 liter V10 found in the Gallardo, the Lamborghini Egoista V10 engine is good for 600 hp. Suddenly, the aeronautical-spec antiradar materials make a lot of sense.

A pure one-off, there are no intentions to produce the Lamborghini Egoista.

"I wanted to pay homage to and think up a vehicle to underline the fact that Lamborghinis have always been made with passion, and with the heart more than the head," De Silva said. "If Lamborghinis are cars for the few, this one goes further. It is a car for itself, a gift from Lamborghini to Lamborghini, resplendent in its solitude. The Egoista is pure emotion, Never Never Land, which no one can ever possess."
