Lais Ribeiro has been honored to wear the $2 million-worth fantasy bra at this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The Brazilian model had been keeping the secret close to her and finally revealed the news today in an Instagram post. "I've been holding this secret for too long and I am beyond honored to announce that I will be wearing the Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra this year," she wrote excitedly. "I am very happy and thankful for my Victoria's Secret family for trusting me and all the support from my on family, friends and fans! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! its official!!"
"After three days, I was still pinching myself because I couldn't believe it. I was very emotional. I cried very much," she told E News. "It's the biggest thing in my career right now. Of course, we hope [to be chosen], but we never know because there's so many of us, and we all work so hard. And I'm thankful and honored to be one of them now."
The Fantasy Bra is worth a lot of money and that's because it consists of almost 6,000 precious gems which includes sapphires, topaz and diamonds. The Champagne Night's Fantasy Bra weighs more than 600 carats and took almost 350 hours to make.
Ribeiro has the honor of sporting the magnificent piece joining models like Gisele Bündchen, Alessandra Ambrosio and Heidi Klum.
“I never cried so much in my entire life — and I have a baby,” Ribeiro told People of her initial reaction. “It was so emotional. I couldn’t believe it when they told me. It was so beautiful.” She also added: "Who doesn’t dream about wearing the Fantasy Bra — I mean it’s an honor to be among Gisele [Bündchen], Candice [Swanepoel], Adriana [Lima], and all the big top models who have worn it in the past. I get too emotional talking about this. I have to work on that.”
As a Latina, Lais is close to her family and shared the news with them in typical fashion. “I asked my brother to put everybody on the phone: my grandma, grandpa, my mom, uncles, everybody in the room and then I told them and it was just me crying on the side and my entire family on the other side crying,” she said. “They’re jumping; my sister dropped the phone. It was amazing.” “It felt so amazing. I think a lot of emotions that I had inside of me over the seven years all came out at once,” she shared. “I was just so happy and so proud and so thankful to wear the bra. I couldn’t believe. I swear to God three days later I was like pinching myself literally like, ‘This is not happening.’ I can’t believe. I kept asking my boyfriend, asking my close friends, ‘Is this for real, seriously?’ I couldn’t believe it.”
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2017 will take place in Shanghai, China this year and will air on television November 28 at 10/9c on CBS.
