Belinda became a meme when a clip of a recent performance went viral on social media. The video shows the "Complices Al Rescate" telenovela star annoyed that fans wanted her to perform a song from her childhood days called "El Baile Del Sapito." The short clip became a trending topic on social media and now the star has replied to critics with a little bit of humor. "It makes me laugh that you don't know how to differentiate and realize everything is part of the show," she tweeted. In the message she included a meme that read, "Keep calm and Sapito." Belinda later tweeted another message lashing out at the haters: "Continue making things up and criticizing, I will keep growing. Blessings to all." The video that was shared on social media shows Belinda annoyed at having to sing a song she used to perform as a child. "Is it serious," she asks to a cheering crowd. "Seriously, having so many songs, so many years in the business, you'll always ask for 'El Sapito?'" Belinda, seemingly bothered, crouches, puts her head down for a moment and stares out at the audience. This tune is from the telenovela "Cómplices Al Rescate" where Belinda starred in when she was a kid where she played a young banda singer. "El Sapito" is one of the most remembered songs from the series and continues to play at birthday parties and at Belinda concerts as well.
Doing some digging and looking at past Belinda concerts, we noticed this was a trend. On various concerts Belinda took a similar stance before actually performing "El Baila Del Sapito." In a video found on YouTube from de León Fair earlier this year, Belinda seems reluctant to sing "El Baila Del Sapito" again. After listening to the crowd chant "El Sapito," the singer has no other choice but to perform the song. With a mariachi band in the back, Belinda misses no beat at dancing to the fan favorite tune. We know why Belinda would seem annoyed as the clip is taken out of context and if we can see in the background, the dancers are fully read to get their "Sapito" dancing on.
