Princess Diana’s death shook the entire world and was one of those eventualities where everyone remembers what they were doing at the time they heard about the tragedy. With so much controversy surrounding her marriage to Prince Charles, her broken relationship with the Queen of England and her supposed love affair with Dodi Al-Fayed, the speculations flooded the media just seconds after it was known. While Lady Di was beloved by so many, she was said to be a free spirit who didn’t care that much about public opinion.
With her good looks, her charm, her charitable heart and royal status, Princess Diana was the perfect target for the media. The world not being able to get enough of her while the media tried to satisfy their hungry audience, became the lethal combination that most likely took Diana and Harrod’s heir, Al-Fayed’s life. Today marks the 18th anniversary of the tragedy and we remember Lady Di’s intelligence and kindness with a few of her most famous quotes:
“I touch people. I think everyone needs that. Placing a hand on a friend’s face means making contact.”
“Helping people in need is a good and essential part of my life, a kind of destiny."
“I don’t go by the rule book… I lead from the heart, not the head.”
“When you are happy you can forgive a great deal.”
“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”
“I'd like to be a queen in people's hearts but I don't see myself being queen of this country.”
“They say it is better to be poor and happy than rich and miserable, but how about a compromise like moderately rich and just moody?”

“I live for my sons. I would be lost without them.”
“I think the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved. I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give. I am very happy to do that, I want to do that.”
“I don’t want expensive gifts; I don’t want to be bought. I have everything I want. I just want someone to be there for me, to make me feel safe and secure.”
“I knew what my job was; it was to go out and meet the people and love them.”

“So many people supported me through my public life and I will never forget them.”
