Former Disney star Kyle Massey faces a felony charge for sending pornographic material to a 13-year-old girl who he ‘mentored’ after she sued him for $1.5 million in 2019. Massey, 29,— best known for his role in "That’s So Raven" and "Cory in the House"— shook fans after his predatory episodes came to light.
The case, as reported by TMZ, falls under the ambit of civil lawsuits, which were filed by the girl (whose identity remains undisclosed). The act of sending numerous sexually explicit content via text messages, images, and videos via Snapchat to the teen dates back to the months of December 2018 and January 2019.
While the civil suit was stalled for a brief period, authorities began their investigation in 2020. While Massey was supposed to produce himself before King County Criminal Court, Washington, for his arraignment on Monday, he allegedly gave it a miss.
Massey and the teen’s acquaintance dates back to several years ago when the girl was introduced to the Disney star at the age of 4. The pair got closer over the years as she pursued a career in entertainment as a child artiste. At one point in time, as cited in Page Six, Massey even rolled out an unusual offer to the girl— suggesting that she should shift base and live with him and his girlfriend.
The teen’s mum claimed that Massey often projected himself as a “father figure”, and his connection with the family thickened in November 2018. And, around the same period, the girl expressed her interest in being a part of the proposed reboot of the “Raven” spinoff “Cory in the House”, as reported by the media outlet.
Massey’s reps are yet to revert with a statement on the controversy. About a month later, Massey allegedly sent a friend request to the girl on Snapchat. In no time, he allegedly began to flood her with “numerous sexually explicit text messages, images, and videos.” As per police reports, there entailed a series of recordings which included a pornographic video clip and a video of a man who appears to be Massey flashing his penis.
