The dark, atrocious lives of the New York elites would have been monotonous and far less interesting... Unless it was narrated by Kristen Bell. After her tremendous success as the mysterious narrator of the CW Network show “Gossip Girl,” Bell is all set to return as the official voice of Gossip Girl.
According to Variety, the “Frozen” star has signed with HBO Max. She will once again reprise the role of the narrator. The creators of the original show, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have teamed up once again with writer Joshua Safran to feature a brand new group of Upper East Siders through the vigilant eye of the Gossip Girl.
The story will be set in the same world. It will be set about eight years later and focus more on the impact of social media on the lives of people and the changing landscape of New York, over the years.
Earlier this year, Josh Schwartz had revealed that the identity of the Gossip Girl will no longer be a mystery and the audience gets to see her point of view. In “Gossip Girl 2.0,” the audiences are all Gossip Girls, who will continue to speak in the unified voice of Kristen Bell, with their watchful eyes on the new generation of scandalous upper east siders.
"It felt like there was something really interesting about this idea that we are all Gossip Girl now, in our own way," Josh Schwartz told E!News during TV Critics Association press tour. The creator added how every individual is purveyors of their own social media surveillance state and how that's evolved.
The show is set to launch in May 2020 in HBO Max.
