Amazon's Kindle Fire HD 8.9 costs $299 and features a 8.9" screen and a HD LCD display. The tablet has a 1920x1200 and up to 1080p HD resolution with Dolby Audio and dual stereo speakers.

PC Mag said the display of Kindle Fire HD is going to "offer you vivid and vibrant colors, especially if watching movies is first thing you are going to do on your tablet."

"When it comes to HD displays, great resolution is just the start," Amazon boasts. "Unlike many other tablets, Kindle Fire HD also delivers rich color and deep contrast from every angle, with an advanced polarizing filter and custom anti-glare technology.'

Samsung Galaxy's 7.7 touch screen and tablet works on Verizon's network and comes in a light silver. A two-year contract version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 costs $449, and a no-contract version costs $699.

The Kindle HD is 9.45" x 6.5" x 0.35", weighs 20 oz and can hold 16GB or 32GB on Wi-Fi, 32GB or 64GB on 4G device, plus free cloud storage for all Amazon content.

The Galaxy is is 7.74" x 5.24" x 0.31" and weighs 12 ounces. It has battery life of up to 13 hrs in 3G and up to 12.5 hrs in 4G LTE.

The Kindle HD has a dual-core,1.5GHz OMAP4470 processor and a battery life of 10 hours.

PC Tablet said the Kindle's processor "assures satisfaction in terms of performance and parallel execution."

Amazon said the Kindle Fire HD uses "state-of-the-art dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi for over 40 percent faster speeds."

Amazon's Kindle Fire HD 8.9 4G costs $499 and features 4G LTE connectivity.

The Galaxy on Android's 3.2, Honeycomb operating system and features a 2.0 megapixel front camera and a 3.2 megapixel rear camera with Panorama, editing modes and online image uploading.

The Samsung Galaxy 7.7 holds up to 16GB internally and 32GB externally using a SDHC/SHD SD Card.The Galaxy runs on a 1.4GHz Dual Core Processor and should offer the same speed as the Kindle Fire HD.

"The biggest selling point of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is its gorgeous Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen, and there's no denying that it is very impressive. The 1280-by-800-pixel WXGA screen looks fantastic, and is the point of conversation around this device," Tech Radar's Kevin Kelly said about the device. "At 7.7 inches of surface size, .31 thick, and weighing only 12 ounces, the screen really needs to be the most impressive feature. It certainly is here with this display providing rich colors and deep contrasts."

PC World said the Tab 7.7 "produced compelling images, but it was hard to gauge how it compares." The said the text looked sharp and videos played "smoothly."

CNet said "the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 delivers a beautiful screen and fast performance but our enthusiasm is ultimately tempered when the price is taken into account."
