North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been out of the public eye for over two weeks, observably the longest he’s been missing in action since November last year. The tyrant has been on a 16-day hiatus with speculations revolving around reported efforts to minimize his public appearances to protect him from an ongoing Covid-19 outbreak sweeping the country.
According to NK PRO, Kim may also be out somewhere enjoying the east coast most likely on vacation cruising onboard his megayacht. Satellite imagery has detected active movement from his flotilla of luxury yachts in recent weeks with some analysts saying he may also be conducting secret inspections of his arsenal of weapons included in his development projects that are lined-up. Others have once again started talking about the leader dealing with his health issues.
Kim’s frequent visibility over the past months has extinguished much talk about his state of health, as he attended more public activities this year compared to his intermittent lengthy breaks from the past two years.
Typically, the leader likes to indulge himself often in much luxury. He is known to take off with his megayachts to his beachside mansion in Wonsan and is believed to be basking in the summer sun during his current absence.
Based on satellite images from Planet Labs, Kim’s 180-foot yacht was spotted anchored in the secluded Sin island located in the northern part of Tae Island. The yacht was seen at a repair dry dock in May which may have been preparations for the coming summer months. It comes with a multi-story lounge, waterslides similar to that of an amusement park, and an Olympic-size pool. The luxury vessel is usually docked at a private marina in Wonsan and generally goes out for trips to the leader’s beach mansion.
The yacht trips are but the icing to the cake in Kim’s lavish lifestyle. The leader is said to own a private island comparable to that of Hawaii and Ibiza. Sources close to the dictator said Kim and his private island once played host in 2013 to NBA legend and friend Dennis Rodman. The basketball star described his stay and his host as “amazing” and was served with nothing but the best.
“He's got 50 to 60 people around him all the time — just normal people, drinking cocktails and laughing the whole time. Everything you want, he has the best."
Kim reportedly may return to the spotlight this week as the country prepares for the Victory Day holiday on Wednesday. He is also set to attend a conference in Pyongyang to address the elderly veterans of the Korean War.
