Actress Sandra Oh has explained what the “Killing Eve” Season 2 finale means for Season 3. With the production on “Killing Eve” Season 3 in full swing soon, Oh revealed some juicy details about her titular character’s status when the series returns.
Season 2 saw Eve making irrational decisions that left her drowning in her own mess. The Season 2 finale saw Eve in the midst of ancient ruins, bleeding from a bullet in her back after being shot by the psychopath assassin Villanelle. The scene made viewers wonder if Eve ended up dead or was only faking it.
In an interview, Oh revealed that they have not decided yet on Eve’s fate in Season 3. “I totally understand that question, because even as the third season is forming, that is a question,” she said. “What was Villanelle thinking at the moment? Was she really wanting to kill her? Was she not? We have not yet decided,” she added.
It can be recalled that in the season finale, Villanelle fired at Eve after the latter learned that she had been manipulated into chopping Raymond into pieces and rejected to run away with the assassin. According to Oh, it was worth the risk to say no to Villanelle because that demonstrated growth on Eve’s part.
“If Eve survives, it’s tricky because we haven’t shot it, but I would imagine we know each other so much better now it would be like, ‘Of course you shot me, Of course she tried to kill me,’” Oh said. “But honestly, in the beat before the shot happens, there’s something in Eve that I think knows that it could happen, but she’s willing to walk away from that dynamic,” she added.
Oh refused to comment on whether Eve will survive when the series returns, but she believed that her character was not playing dead in the Season 2 finale. “If I were to guess, right now, no she is not playing dead,” she said. “Either she is dead, or she’s lying there shot and bleeding to death,” she added.
If fans saw the last of Eve in the Season 2 finale, then the new sh owrunner, “Fear The Walking Dead’s” Suzanne Heathcote, can start afresh and explore the storylines in “Killing Eve” Season 2 that have not been unraveled yet. These include Konstantin’s clue that Villanelle still has family members who are not dead, as well as Niko’s horror after Villanelle killed his colleague.
