The Kentucky Wildcats began the season No 1 and they sure would like to end it that way. Kentucky is the youngest team in this year’s tournament and only three of their players have played in an NCAA Tournament before.
Calipari was asked if the pre season ranking was unfair due to the fact that his starters were all freshmen, to that which he responded ''You're at Kentucky. That's part of it. Some of it was, you know, you build it up so high it gives you a chance to start whacking at it. But that's part of it. And again, they have handled it great,'' he said, ''and I'm proud of them.''
The fact that they are the youngest team does not really mean much. In the past two tournaments, the youngest teams have gone pretty far. Michigan was the runner up to Louisville last season and Kentucky beat Kansas in 2012. One of the starting freshmen Aaron Harrison said ''It's a chance for us to validate what people said we could do at the beginning of the year. We became much better in the last month or so, especially in the last two weeks. It's a new season, we get another opportunity to play, and just go out there and have fun and see what we can do.''
Kansas State is the most physical. These two teams met in the 1951 championship game and Kentucky came out on top. Tune in to CBS AT 9:40 to see which of these two teams comes out on top! To live stream, click here.
