Keanu Reeves is the face of Cyberpunk 2077 as he plays Johnny Silverhand in the game. He’s merely a digital companion to the player, so his character is not playable, but the actor loves this character so much that he now requested CD Projekt Red to give him more screen time.
According to TGCOM24, Reeves enjoyed playing the character in a wholly unexpected level that he requested CD Projekt Red to double his screen time so that he can have more fun on this role. In an interview with Lucas Ward, Reeves said the original script was changed to accommodate this desire.
It is not clear how Reeves’ role expanded, whether he will have separate missions or dialogue. However, fans need not fret since the game release is around the corner. It on 16 April 2020. It will be available first for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A Google Stadia version will follow in the same year.
It can be remembered that when he was interviewed earlier this year by Entertainment Weekly, he said that doing the movie “The Matrix” prepared him for this role. “I had mo-cap experience through The Matrix, so that idea wasn’t foreign to me, in terms of being able to play a role, and being able to embody a role and then do the voice. The game, and the world and the story they were talking about is really cool,” he shared.
He then revealed that doing movies and doing video games are not similar. There are things he cannot do in films that he can have fun with in the games.
His character will not get any romantic partner, though, no matter if his screentime has doubled.
In an interview with Video Games Chronicle, CD Projekt Red level designer Max Pears claimed that Silverland, or the character that Reeves took on, will not be one of the many roles that the protagonist, V, will be entangled within a sexual or romantic relationship.
