Katt Williams managed to dodge his original sentence of 180 days in jail after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor resulting from a police chase in Sacramento last year.
Williams, who was charged with evading police, must now serve 90 days of community service. The remainder of his sentence will be stayed if he completes his time without further offenses.
His original charge was a felony vehicle code violation.
The chase took place Nov. 25, when Williams was in town for a show. Police spotted him driving a Spyder, a three-wheel motorcycle, on a sidewalk at around 2:30 p.m., EDT. When confronted by police, he led them on a chase along sidewalks and other pedestrian walkways. Sometime during the chase, Williams allegedly took off his helmet and told police he was not going to stop. Sacramento PD decided the chase was too dangerous and stopped the pursuit, according to the LA Times.
Around this time, Williams became notorious for angry outbursts during shows, resulting in a cancellation mid-show during a performance in Oakland.
He failed to show up in court multiple times relating to the driving charges, which he described as a misunderstanding. Shortly after the pursuit in December, he announced his retirement from stand-up comedy. His site shows no signs of upcoming tour dates.
