Kate Middleton Could Be Making An Important Statement By Wearing Old Citrine Ring

Since marrying Prince William in 2011, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has sported many rings from the royal collection. Recently, she is seen wearing an old citrine ring which she has been wearing before she joined the Royal Family.

According to a report, the eye-catching ring is an expression of the Duchess' optimism and independence as she would wear the jewel on occasions when she is not being accompanied by Prince William

On other occasions, she is usually seen wearing the famous sapphire ring which Prince William proposed to her with. It boasts a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire adorned and enveloped by 14 equally stunning diamonds.

The Duchess of Cambridge also wears an engagement ring that previously belonged to the late Princess Diana as Prince Harry has previously gifted the said ring to Prince William so he could make the proposal in 2011.

As required by a tradition being religiously followed by the Royal Family, Kate was given a Welsh gold wedding band. Similarly, she wears another band on her wedding finger which is thought to be an eternity ring from her husband, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.

Ben Johnson who is the managing director at Miltons Diamonds confirmed that the large citrine ring that the Duchess has been spotted wearing is indeed worth a huge sum of money. "Judging by the size of it could be worth anything from £5,000 up to £20,000," he added.

Although some reports have referred to the ring as a new addition to Kate Middleton's collection, a photograph from 2008 appears to prove that the Duchess had been wearing it even before she married Prince William.

Johnson said the rock may be an expression of what the Duchess is trying to convey, and explained that the citrine rock "emanates optimism and can be used to direct personal will and decisiveness."

He said the ring may hold a sentimental value and a special place in Kate's heart as the piece of jewelry is hers alone and not from the Royal Family's collection.
