Vice President Kamala Harris has called President-elect Donald Trump to congratulate him on his victory, according to multiple reports.

A senior Harris aide told the Associated Press details of the call on the condition of anonymity.

Harris reportedly discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power.

She is scheduled to give a concession speech to the nation from Howard University on Wednesday afternoon.

The Trump campaign issued a statement shortly after the call: "President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris spoke by phone earlier today where she congratulated him on his historic victory."

"President Trump acknowledged Vice President Harris on her strength, professionalism, and tenacity throughout the campaign, and both leaders agreed on the importance of unifying the country."

Minutes later, different outlets reported that President Joe Biden also congratulated Trump on his victory and invited him to the White House for a meeting.
