#FreeMally and #MallyNeedsJustin are only a couple of the hashtags used by "Beliebers" on Twitter to capture the attention of the Munich Airport, the authority responsible of confiscating Mally, Justin Bieber's capuchin monkey, after he arrived in the German city in March as part of his world tour.
Mally was a birthday gift from music producer Jamal Mally Mal Rashid and is now kept in the Munich Animal Protection League shelter. Judith Brettmeister, spokeswoman for the shelter told The Associated Press that her office received two emails from an alleged representative of Justin Bieber. She could not confirm if they were from the real management company, but "they appeared to be".
In the mails, they asked how long they had to provide the papers before the monkey was euthanized, and after learning that animals aren't euthanized in German shelters, they wanted to know if they had any recommendations for places (maybe a zoo) that Mally could be safe in.
Bieber has until May 17 to provide the paperwork for Mally. After that day the monkey becomes the property of the Federal Republic of Germany.
