Up, up and away. Justin Bieber's wishes for a concert in space are sort of coming true.
Richard Branson, founder of Virgin, which includes Virgin Galactic, the intergalactic counterpart of the airlines, tweeted Wednesday that Bieber and his manager, Scooter Braun, would be joining him aboard one of his space vessels.
Braun responded to the tweet: "I'm going to space momma!" Meanwhile, Bieber retweeted Branson's message to his 40 million followers, the New York Daily News reported.
Virgin Galactic is trying to a foster a trend of "space tourism" by offering a seat on the rocket-powered SpaceShipTwo to anyone affluent enough -- or crazy enough -- to shell out some serious bucks. Flights are currently pegged at $250,000, with approximately 580 putting down $70 million in deposits for the chance to cruise around in space, PC Mag reports.
Commercial flights are yet to be available, but Bieber and his manager aren't the first celebrities to be set for take-off. Ashton Kutcher and Leonardo DiCaprio have also signed up to be pseudo-astronauts. At the altitude the vessel climbs, passengers can experience weightlessness and see the curvature of the Earth, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The 19-year-old pop star tweeted in February that he wanted to have a concert in space, to which NASA replied: "Maybe we can help you with that."
Bieber's travel date into the wild blue yonder and beyond has not yet been revealed.
