The first season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” is officially wrapped up although it seems pretty clear that the anime series is headed to a second season. The final episode ending says it all but the only problem is that showrunners have yet to announce an official release date.
“Jujutsu Kaisen” season officially concluded last Mar. 27 with the finale ending with the phrase “to be continued.” This means that anime fans have not seen the last of the horror urban fantasy anime series and most are now eager to see when the second season will happen. It has yet to get renewed although the last episode hints that one is coming. All that is needed is an official announcement from MAPPA.
Further, there is more than enough reason to see “Jujutsu Kaisen” get a second season. It has garnered positive reviews from fans, yet another reason why the anime should announce a release date for its second season soon.
Worth adding that “Jujutsu Kaisen” has more than enough material left from the original manga to work on. The first season covered up roughly chapter 64 of volume 8. There are 143 chapters of the manga to cover, all unpublished as of this writing. However, all this cannot progress until HITC makes the second season official. MBS' Chief Programming Director Jajime Yokota was asked about any development but said that he has no credible update to share for now.
However, followers of “Jujutsu Kaisen” need not fret. While a second season is something most are eagerly awaiting, the “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” movie should suffice. It was revealed via social media and is speculated to be up for release by the Winter of 2021. The theatrical release is likely to be limited only to theaters in Japan.
For those who may not know, the “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” movie will be a prequel to the anime series, titled “Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School.” It will take on the Cursed Child Arc, the story of a young boy called Yuta Okkotsu, who is haunted by his childhood friend Rika.
