This week, Enrique Peña Nieto became host to China's Xi Jinping, who visited the Latin American country to meet with the president of Mexico and broaden relations and expand trade ties, that included opening the Chinese market to imports of Mexican tequila and pork.
After meeting privately, both leaders said they are transforming the relationship into a "strategic partnership" and taking steps to move toward balancing their trade.
But what most people are going to remember about this historic meeting is not the results of the numerous papers the presidents signed, but Enrique Peña Nieto's attempt to welcome Xi Jinping in Mandarin and everybody who was present or saw the event live, thinking he mispronounced Jinping's name by calling him Juan Yin.
"In the name of the United Mexican States, it is an honor to receive today the president of the People's Republic of China, president Juan Yin Juan Yin."
What Peña Nieto really tried to say was "huānyíng," which means "welcome" in Mandarin, but his difficulty with the language made him fail, resulting in numerous memes that surfaced the web and the video of the beginning of his speech going viral all over the Internet.
We got to give it to Peña Nieto, Mandarin is very complicated, but the video and memes sure made us laugh!
