Juan Manuel Santos launched his reelection campaign for the Colombian presidency in the city of Barranquilla, but during his speech, disaster struck. President Santos was giving a passionate discourse when unfortunately incontinence struck: worst of all he was being filmed, and thus a video of the President peeing himself is all over the internet: the video went viral across social media in Colombia and, like a wet patch, quickly spread and spread.
President Santos has copped a lot of embarrassing comments from Colombians, however, some have pointed out that it is actually a pretty brave thing to just keep on talking. One Youtube user pointed out that "instead of getting embarrassed he stands there and continues the speech like a man and a leader." Several people have also pointed out that the President underwent surgery in 2012 to remove prostate cancer, and later had a urinary infection - this is most likely a consequence of the operation and subsequent infection.
Juan Manuel Santos announced that he would be running for reelection in Colombia's 2014 presidential race back November last year. Santos justified the move by drawing attention to the advances his government has made in the last four years, among them peace negotiations with FARC and the reduction of poverty and unemployment. Colombian elections will take place in May 2014, meaning Santos would govern until 2018. "I want to continue leading the great transformations that we have begun," said Santos.
