Cristián De La Fuente is the star of the new Televisa production of "En Tierras Salvajes." From the title, we can figure it is going to take place in a rural area and be complete of "savagery." Although we have not seen any scenes from the telenovela, the savagery is already taking over, but in real life, not in fiction. Turns out that De La Fuente posted a video of him cutting a tree and fellow actor José Ron was not having it. What bothered Ron was that Cristián wrote: "When there's no gym... let's cut a tree." Ron was quick to reply: "Wow, I'm reading that and I can't believe it. I only hope that you will plant more than what you destroy."
"En Tierras Salvajes" co-star Diego Olivera jumped to Cristián's defense right away posting: "Dear José Ron, I apologize for replying to you publicly for a comment, in my opinion, 'out of place.' We don't know each other very well, but with the respect we have for each other, I want to clarify that that is a zone apt for cutting and constant reforestation. I agree with you that it's a sensitive subject but I think your comment is absolutely opportunistic. I ask you that before making a sarcastic comment you contact the production or us to clear up any doubts."
Cristián De La Fuente later edited his Instagram post to clarify the situation. "For all the comments about the tree...," he wrote. "That is a tree that they need to cut down. Instead of cutting it with a chainsaw, we started cutting it with an ax for the telenovela. It's a tree that is destined to be cut down and there is obviously a plan for reforestation (and if you see they are filming me for the story, my character does that)."
Telenovela producer Salvador Mejía, also jumped in to further clarify the ordeal by posting a picture of the tree that was marked to be cut down due to it being infected.
