Last month, Amber Heard filed for divorce from her husband of 18 months, Johnny Depp, only two days after the actor’s mom had passed away. Apparently, the divorce papers were only the tip of the iceberg since the actress also obtained a temporary restraining order due to domestic abuse claims. The split is even messier due to the fact that the couple did not sign a prenup.
But despite all of this, Depp has had many people come forth to his defense, including his ex, Vanessa Paradis, his daughter Lily Rose, and his fellow actor and friend Benicio del Toro, among others.
Del Toro spoke to Daily News Confidenti@l about being skeptical of Heard’s claims. “What I know, there’s a lot of trouble from the girl that sounds a little manipulative,” del Toro said. “It sounds a little bit like there’s something really twisted about that girl ... but I don’t know the specifics.”
The “Sicario” actor even mentioned that despite his skepticism toward Heard, he saw the couple recently and they “seemed fine.” “It seems the fact that his mom passed away and she filed for divorce two days later and then she wants money and she's saying she got hit, it’s almost like, wait, I saw them not too long ago,” he insisted.
Depp and del Toro met on the set of the 1998 movie “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” where they co-starred and became friends. Del Toro described Depp as “a nice guy, very caring, very smart.”
While the investigation continues, Heard has presented photos showing bruises on her face, allegedly caused by Depp throwing a phone at her, but just last week, TMZ resurfaced reports that show Heard was arrested in 2009 for domestic abuse after she allegedly struck her then-girlfriend, Tasya Van Ree.
Hopefully things between the couple do not get any nastier and a settlement can be reached soon.
