After many years in business, NGL Media ---the leading Hispanic video marketing solutions company co-founded by CEO, David Chitel, and Colombian actor John Leguizamo--- has expanded to NGL Studios, a full-scale production division. To learn more about this new venture, Latin Times talked to NGL Studios President, Ben DeJesus, who elaborated on the company's new project.
"NGL Studios grew out of some of the production work we were doing through NGL Media. We would create the concept, we would put together the casting, we would find the celebrity talent, we would produce the content," DeJesus said. "Because we were doing so much work in production, it just made sense to expand and start doing original content. Not just for clients that hire us, but also for TV networks or digital networks," he added.
DeJesus feels grateful to have Leguizamo on board, revealing that the "Ice Age" actor has been part of NGL Media since day one. "David and John had been partners for the last 15 years on another venture that he had sold to another company. So, he came on board from day one. They already had that relationship," he explained. "John is somebody that I always looked up to, so I'm really excited to be working with him for the first time and now we're partners. He's been very valuable in terms of adding his input and his creative feedback," DeJesus said.
On the other hand, DeJesus revealed that the company is also working with Romeo Santos. "I've been on tour with him on-and-off, putting together a documentary film of his tour. As part of this project, I've been around the world. It's so awesome to work on it and hopefully we can take it to the theaters," he said.
Currently, NGL Studios is working on a couple of documentaries and concert films. "NGL Studios is not meant to be another production company. We're trying to be the modern-type of production company. Meaning, we specialize in digital content for web, for mobile. But we're also expanding. We want to create content that speaks to all audiences, not just Latino," DeJesus stated.
