Following a nomadic collegiate career that saw him travel to four universities, Nate Montana is eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft.

As reported by NFL.com, the son of Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana worked out at an NFL Super Regional Combine Monday afternoon at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

Initially beginning his collegiate career in 2008 as a walk on at the University of Notre Dame, Montana quickly transferred to Pasadena City College the next season. After a reunion in South Bend with the Irish in 2010 delivered minimal playing time, Montana transferred again, this time to the University of Montana, but again playing time was scarce.

The 23-year-old NFL hopeful finally found a home in 2012 at Division II West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he threw for over 2,000 yards and 19 touchdowns in one season as a starter.

While he delivered some nice numbers during the final season of his college career, Montana is considered by most to be a long-shot to get drafted. "His passes don't have zip. He has difficulty making pro throws," noted NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks. All Montana can do now is hope he impressed enough scouts to at least garner some attention come the NFL Draft this April 25-27.

Nate Montana's father Joe was a legendary quarterback at his son's former school, the University of Notre Dame. A three-year career (he was injured in 1976) that included many spectacular plays and fantastic victories, Joe Montana amassed over 4,000 passing yards and threw 25 touchdowns in 27 appearances.

Selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the 3rd Round of the 1979 Draft, Montana went on to win 4 Super Bowl titles and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

His son Nate is just hoping for a chance, and you can be sure dad is supporting him 100 percent.
