A cancer patient bank story has been going viral after Joe Jaramillo was surrounded by police under the suspicion of robbing a bank. Joe Jaramillo is a cancer patient who underwent chemotherapy and then went to the bank. He had to wear a surgical mask to ensure he remains germ-free, as chemotherapy weakens the immune system, leading Wells Fargo officials to believe the man is the "Surgical Mask Bandit."
"I felt so embarrassed and humiliated," said Joe Jaramillo, who suffers from lymphoma. "I just wanted to do something on my own."

In their defense, a surgical mask bandit had committed two bank heists which ultimately led to cops surrounding the cancer patient, questioning him, searching his car and ultimately apologizing for the fiasco created. The "Surgical Mask Bandit" is considered to be armed and dangerous, according to authorities.
"The next thing I know, I have six Montebello police officers around me, standing there saying, 'Can you stand up, can you put your hands above your head'?' What did I do? 'Can you please stand up, sir?' I go, 'Really?' This is so embarrassing, you have all these people at the bank [watching]," says Jaramillo.
Jaramillo told media outlets that he told the bank teller that he got chemotherapy the day before and that is why he is wearing the mask. He went to withdraw money and the teller kept stalling.

"Then I noticed, behind the scenes, they even had shotguns," says Jaramillo, adding that he doesn't see a resemblance with the suspect and himself even with the mask. Jaramillo told reporters that he is not upset with the police, but is upset with the bank. Wells Fargo has issued a statement since the news of the cancer patient bank story got out.
"This is the first I am hearing of this," said a representative for Wells Fargo. "Because the bank is closed tonight, I can't speak to the branch manager and cannot provide any information until tomorrow and comment on the situation."
