Literally days after Jodi Arias had been found guilty of murdering her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander -- and now sits in wait for her punishment -- Lifetime had its own announcement to make surrounding the trial.
The drama network will be airing a movie titled "Dirty Little Secret: The Jodi Arias Story" June 22 at 8 p.m. EST. The film has been in production since March 2012, NBC News reported.
Early scripts indicate a spotlight on Arias and Alexander's tumultuous relationship, but Lifetime has since said that it is rewriting part of the script to reflect pivotal moments in the trial.
The Arias trial lasted four months, in which Arias repeatedly changed her story; first stating that an intruder murdered Alexander, then that she murdered him in self-defense after she claims he became violent when she dropped his new camera.
Tania Raymonde, best known for her work in "Lost," plays Arias, who is depicted as a seductive, aspiring photographer who becomes obsessed with Alexander -- played by Jesse Lee Soffer of "The Mob Doctor" -- soon after meeting him. She begins to climb into his house, send threatening messages to other women and stalks him.
Alexander is depicted as the flirtatious funny guy who is popular with women, but becomes particularly attached to Arias after their many sexual encounters, but eventually tries to get rid of her when her behavior becomes worrisome.
The film highlights the couple's sexual escapades, which became a hot topic during the trial where Arias spent 18 days testifying. Mesa, Az. police eventually caught her in a web of lies in the real life trial when they looked through photographs on Alexander's camera. What they found were risque photos of sexual encounters and photographic evidence of Arias during and after the murder.
Arias testified extensively of the explicit nature of her and Alexander's relationship, a point "Dirty Little Secret" tries to convey, according to Arturo Interian, vice president of original movies for Lifetime networks and A&E.
"We approached this story creatively from the point of view that Travis was the victim, and were trying to wrap our arms around why Jodi did what she did," Interian said. "I think the verdict certainly validated our approach...I think people are fascinated with Jodi and I think this film is a serious attempt to look at what makes her tick. At the same time, I think what's been lost in this story is the victim in this case."
Alexander was found stabbed 29 times with his throat slashed and a bullet to the head in an incident that occurred June 4, 2008.
Arias is currently waiting on her punishment while on suicide watch in an Arizona jail. She could receive the death penalty.
The film has currently finished production, but there is still enough time for Lifetime to make alterations to reflect the final outcome of the trial.
Lifetime will also air an exclusive hour-long documentary with her titled Jodi Arias: Beyond the Headlines, on Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST., USA Today reported.
