Was Belinda just caught up in a lie? Best of all, did J.Lo call her out on one of her fibs? Jenifer Lopez was in Mexico this week promoting her new clothing line in collaboration with Coppel. During the press conference the Bronx beauty was asked about her collaboration with Mexican singer Belinda. "She has not approached me, I don't know anything about that," Lopez said. "Maybe it's a rumor that started somewhere, but it doesn't make sense, there's nothing about that." Did we just read that correctly? Did the "Booty" hitmaker just said Belinda has never approached her? That completely contradicts what the "Boba Niña Nice" singer said a couple months back.
“I can’t say anything about this project yet, because they reached me, so nothing has yet been set in stone. We’re just talking,” Belinda said back in August 2014. She was very specific saying that it was Lopez's camp that reached out to her for a possible collab. We all thought J.Lo wanted to reach new horizons working with Belinda who is a major Latin pop star. Now that we look back and read her revelations, we are completely confused. Why would Jennifer approach Belinda? It would make sense if it was the other way around. The only explanation we have is that maybe the "Camaleones" star said that to make herself more important and have us expect the release of her next album.
Belinda has struggled to score a big musical hit and album in the past years. She has collaborated with Pitbull and Juan Magán, but nothing has been a solid hit that we will be remembering for decades to come. Maybe Belinda threw that little fib thinking that Lopez would never go to Mexico and uncover her lie? Or maybe Belinda did have in mind to work with J.Lo, but didn't know how to reach her people to make it happen? What we do know is that Jennifer Lopez seemed to not know who Belinda even was. Being that both singers have Pitbull in common, with both working with Mr. 305 on multiple tracks, we find that hard to believe. If both singers did collaborate, do you think it would be a hit?
