Jessica Simpson gave birth to a healthy baby boy Sunday, June 30 via a planned C-section. A rep said, "Ace Knute (pronounced Ka-nute) Johnson has arrived! Mom and baby are doing great. Jessica, Eric and Maxwell are thrilled to welcome the new addition to their family."
The couple chose the name Knute in honor of Eric's Swedish grandfather.
This was Simpson's second pregnancy, and it was unexpected as she had signed contract with Weight Watchers to lose the baby weight from her first pregnancy and be their spokesperson. She announced it to the world posting a picture on Twitter of her baby Maxwell with a sign that read: "Big sis."
She tried to keep all the details as private as possible, but in March, she told Jimmy Kimmel that she felt "awful" during this second pregnancy, revealing she had been vomiting a lot more, before blurting out. "The crazy thing is I never knew a wiener could make me nauseous!" That's when the whole world found out she was having a boy.
With the secret out, Simpson later confessed to People she was looking forward to adding a boy to the family. "I'm so excited to have a son," she said at the time of her baby shower in April. "I didn't grow up with a brother and I think the unknown is really exciting. I can't wait to have that connection with our little man."
This is the second child for Simpson, 32, and her fiancé, Eric Johnson, 33, a former NFL player. Simpson gave birth to daughter Maxwell last year.
