Jesse & Joy are set to perform during the tribute homage to Carole King for MusicCares Person of The Year Award, which is an event that leads up to the 2014 Grammys to be celebrated this weekend. The Mexican duo has never officially sung in English, and being invited to this event is a recognition to their work. "We are more than honored to be a part of this special night that commemorates the career of Carol King," Jesse and Joy said in a statement. "Our dad was Mexican and our mom is from Wisconsin and we thank her so much because a big part of our music influence was the music she played to us when we were kids and Tapestry was played almost every day at home. So, for us being a part of this night is a career highlight in many ways."
Jesse and Joy are nominated for a Grammy Award this year in the Best Latin Pop Album category for their album "¿Con Quién Se Queda El Perro?" Their work has already received accolades from the Latin Academy in the Best Contemporary Pop Album. Previously, the Latin Grammy awarded them as Best New Artist in 2007 and Record of The Year in 2012 for "¡Corre!" The homage to king is special as the pop duo will share the stage with music legends like Gloria Estefan, Steven Tyler, James Taylor and Bette Midler. Lady Gaga is also set to make an appearance and sing a song for the Person of The Year.
For the homage, the duo is expected to sing one of King's hits, which will serve to bridge the gap into their planned crossover. "We are working very hard on two productions, one in spanish with new material and one that will be completely in English," Jesse revealed. Regarding their performance tonight he told Televisa Espectaculos, "It's something that makes us very excited and feel very proud of ourselves." Joy added, "We will be singing a Carole King song in the Jesse and Joy style and there are a lot of nerves because it will be showing a person how to make their own dish."
