Can you believe it's been 21 years since we lost Selena Quintanilla? Although her life was cut too short, many people are still inspired by her music, by her voice, by her struggle and by her career. Selena is a one of a kind artist that left a legacy with her music and style. Last year, on her 20th year death anniversary Premios Billboard honored Selena in the best way possible. Jennifer Lopez, who played Selena in the biopic, paid tribute to the late Tex-Mex queen by singing some of her biggest hits. The songs that were remembered were "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, "Como La Flor," "Amor Prohibido" and "No Me Queda Más."
When JLo made her appearance on stage at the award show with that big flower on screen and crooning "Como La Flor," it was as if Selena was there with us, it was as that horrible day didn't happen and she had reached her maximum potential and consolidated her stardom. Her presence was felt by everyone watching the performance and we all just got lost in the moment. Lopez was incredible by taking the time off her busy schedule and honor the tejano artist that we all love. It was truly a special moment that will forever be engraced in our minds. There are many ways to celebrate Selena's legacy and singing her songs is the top choice. Watch and relive the JLo performance that was absolutely magical down below and tell us what you think!
Jennifer Lopez has always kept Selena in mind and has had no problems answering questions about the "Techno Cumbia" hitmaker. In an interview with Billboard last year the "Booty" singer was asked what her thoughts of Selena being so loved after so many years. "The grace with which she handled the business, the grace with which she handled her life, the humor," she said. "Her spirit of loving what she did. Her sense of family. That's the tragedy of everything that happened and why she left such an imprint -- because she was gone way too soon." The Bronx-diva also said that it bugged her when people try to think there will be another Selena because "there is never going to be another Selena" because "people like that don't come along every day."
