There’s no doubt Jennifer Lopez has been extremely busy these past weeks. Not only is she promoting her new album, A.K.A., but she also went back to her native Bronx to perform a free concert for the locals, and is in the middle of dealing with a breakup from Casper Smart, her boyfriend of over two years, after a scandal broke that he was sexting with a couple of transgender models. It sure hasn’t been easy for JLo, and that’s why we think she’s had to let a few commitments slip.

Unfortunately, the Puerto Rican diva will not be performing at the FIFA World Cup’s opening ceremony, where she was scheduled to put on a show with Pitbull and Claudia Leitte, singing the official World Cup song, “We Are One (Ole Ola).” In a statement, the singer’s representatives said, “Regretfully Jennifer Lopez will not be attending this year’s World Cup ceremonies,” and gave no further explanation about why. However, FIFA released its own statement, saying it was over “production issues.”

"For production issues, Jennifer Lopez, one of the artists of the official song 'We Are One,' will not be able to perform at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony," the federation said. The 25-minute ceremony will feature 600 artists including acrobatic gymnasts, trampolinists, martial arts-style capoeira performers and stilt walkers, while the grand finale is the performance of this year’s World Cup anthem featuring Brazilian drumming collective Olodum, but this time, minus Lopez.

Nevertheless, Pitbull didn’t let JLo’s withdrawal affect his mood leading up to the celebrations. "To be performing 'We Are One' to the world, especially in such a beautiful country like Brazil, is going to be a lot of fun. But more than this, it is going to show the world that music is the universal language," he said in a statement released by FIFA.
