Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony called it quits back in July 2011, but it wasn't until April 2012 that Anthony filed a petition for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences" and requested joint custody of their kids, People magazine reported at the time. Lopez and Anthony began dating in early 2004 following her split from ex-fiancé Ben Affleck. The couple wed just a few months after starting their romance and just days after Anthony finalized his divorce from ex-wife Dayanara Torres. After their split, both stars have moved on. Lopez has been dating her former backup dancer Casper Smart since October 2011, and Anthony has been linked with Topshop heiress Chloe Green.
Now, nearly two years after Marc filed for divorce, JLo is just getting around to responding to his petition. According to TMZ, Jennifer and Marc's petitions are identical on custody issues and the couple are asking for joint legal and physical custody of their five-year-old twins, Max and Emme. However, the only thing Jennifer wants is for the court to restore her former name, Jennifer Lopez. The diva legally changed her last name to Muñiz, which is Marc Anthony's last name, after the two got married.
The former music power-couple has an amicable relationship and work together for the well-being of their children. "It's about love and that's what I constantly remind myself of," Jennifer told ABC in an interview earlier this year. She added that sometimes she lets other people with "non-traditional" families get in her head with things that they did or didn't do but failed, so she tries to step away from that as much as she can. "[My kids are] happy, they're healthy, they're loved more than anything in the world and they're going to be fine. I want them to know that."
