MIAMI - This is not an easy time for Jennifer Lopez. Live Nation announced on Friday that her summer tour "This Is Me... Live" is cancelled. In a heartfelt message sent to her fans via her newsletter, the Latina artist expressed concern about family and her kids, but notably absent was any mention of her husband, Ben Affleck. The omission only fuels the swirling divorce rumors about the couple.

The announcement comes just days after her Netflix movie "Atlas" received scathing reviews from critics in both traditional and digital media. Despite the criticism, the film has stayed in the top 10 movies in the U.S. and globally for over a week.

Adding to her challenges, there have been cancellations of the tour in at least seven cities, allegedly due to routing issues, although for fans it just confirmed the reports of low ticket sales.

The statement cancelling Jennifer Lopez tour

"Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends," said the announcement from Live Nation.

"For those who purchased through Ticketmaster, tickets will automatically be refunded; there is nothing further fans need to do. For those who purchased via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, etc. – please reach out to your point purchase for more details."

"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down," she wrote. "Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again."

"I love you all so much," Lopez added. "Until next time..."

"This Is Me ... Live" was supposed to be her first concert tour in five years, supporting her latest album, "This Is Me ... Now." The lackluster sales figures for the album forced her to redefine the show, transforming it into a celebration of her career. However, it didn't seem to be enough. The issue is not circumscribed to her work. The whole concert industry in the U.S. is suffering. Lopez isn't the only major star with trouble filling seats at big venues. Justin Timberlake and Madonna, are the first that come to mind.

Are JLo and Ben Affleck divorcing?

Of course, there is also the pesky issue of her personal life in the picture. For weeks, the tabloids and celebrity websites have been feeding their readers with news about the end of "Bennifer 2," with secret divorce proceedings and other rumors.

Neither Jennifer Lopez nor Ben Affleck have offered comments about the state of their marriage, but according to Hollywood insiders, they are living separately, only coming together for family functions regarding the children.

They share Violet (18), Finn (15) and Samuel (11,) from Affleck marriage to Jennifer Gardner, and twins Emme and Max (16), from her marriage to Marc Anthony.
