Jennifer Lopez dropped her new single "Ain't Your Mama" earlier this month. Although most JLovers became instant fans of the song, others criticized the Puerto Rican's latest single upon learning that it was produced by Dr. Luke. For those who don't know, the guitarist and record producer has been caught in a legal battle with singer Kesha since she sued him in 2014 for alleged sexual abuse. J.Lo received backlash on the Internet after news broke out that Luke co-produced her new jam. In the midst of the controversy, Meghan Trainor has stepped up to defend the Latina actress and singer.
Trainor, who co-wrote "Ain't Your Mama" with Jacob Kashner, reveals that Lopez was not aware of Dr. Luke's involvement in the song. In fact, E! News reports that Luke and Trainor began working on the song years ago, before the Kesha controversy.
"I felt terrible when Jennifer got all the hate for ["Ain't Your Mama"], and it's just all ridiculous. [It was] not fair on her, not at all. I texted her the song and she had no idea—she thought I did it alone by myself at my house, which a lot of people think because I do do that," she said, according to E!.
The "All About That Bass" songstress revealed that she also wrote two other songs for J.Lo's forthcoming studio album. Trainor also spilled the beans on a book that the "Shades of Blue" actress is working on. "She told me she just wrote a book about [self-confidence] and said, 'This is real!' I said, 'J.Lo, if you say these things, everyone will relate to that too.' I'm so proud of her and this new album is going to be huge for her," she stated.
Following her "booty-ful" closing performance on "American Idol's" finale, Lopez dropped "Ain't Your Mama" on iTunes along with a lyric video. The catchy and empowering record is the first single that the Puerto Rican star will release through her recently signed deal with Epic Records. After releasing her 2014 album "A.K.A." under Capitol Records, it was revealed that Lopez cut ties with the label and returned to Epic Records.
