Award-winning actress Jennifer Aniston has broken her silence and confirmed that she and David Schwimmer are just friends, confessing that her on-screen partner for a decade is more like a brother to her. Sorry, Ross and Rachel stans, it's just not your year.
The dating rumors began swirling in May this year after Schwimmer, 54, confessed on HBO Max's unscripted television special "Friends: The Reunion" that he had a major crush on the actress and that it was reciprocated at that time, according to the Daily Mail.
"At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other. But it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship," the Emmy nominee said. "And we never crossed that boundary. We respected that."
While the NBC ensemble sitcom had already concluded 17 years ago in 2004, many "Friends" fans remain on the edge of their seats every time reports of Jen and David dating each other hit the headlines.
Following months in silence, Jen, 52, has come out to shut down the dating rumors, confirming that after nearly two decades, she and Schwimmer ultimately decided not to take their on-screen romance to real life.
Schwimmer's camp had also debunked the claims earlier this year, according to Fox News.
"I could not believe that. Like, really? That's my brother! But I understand it, though," Aniston said in an interview this week. "It just shows you how hopeful people are for fantasies for dreams to come true."
Jen amassed Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild awards for her role as the fashionista Rachel Green in the critically-acclaimed NBC television sitcom Friends, which also followed her romance with Schwimmer's character, Dr. Ross Geller.
The “Friends” alum says she's still looking for love following her divorces from Justin Theroux and Brad Pitt, expressing high hopes that relationships between celebrities and non-Hollywood figures are worth the shot.
"That’s what I’m sort of hoping for is not necessarily somebody in the industry itself," she said. "That’d be nice.”
While she's out there hunting for new and "fun" love, the Screen Actors Guild Award winner said she would not resort to online dating just yet, noting it feels good to have someone out ask her out and stick to the traditional ways of dating, according to Page Six.
Jen, once the best-selling celebrity face of the entertainment industry, then revealed that while she's not shutting her doors for romance, she won't be wearing another wedding dress again.
“It’s not on my radar,” she said about getting married for the third time. “I’m interested in finding a fantastic partner and just living an enjoyable life and having fun with one another. That’s all we should hope for. It doesn’t have to be etched in stone in legal documents.”
