Juan Rivera, one of Jenni Rivera's brother's, is giving his full support to his nephew Johnny López after the latter has been exposed to criticism following his coming out as being in a gay relationship. "Media, metiches, chismosos and people with nothing to do," he started off his message on Instagram. "We are family and that's how it's going to be. It's incredible to see people from 'Hoy', 'El Gordo y la Flaca', 'Suelta La Sopa' and many more making a big deal about this. Use your time and medium for something good. There are people dying that need us. There's a drug addiction epidemic that's unstoppable. The world is exploding in front of our eyes and you are going with this. Have some shame."
"There are a lot of reporters and correspondents on your shows that have made a similar choice and are afraid of admitting it," he continued. "Why are you screwing with my nephew? Know that we are family and we will continue to be. Juan Ángel, my boy, I love you. I am proud of you and like I've told you before, my job is to be here for you and I will. We have and will be here for each other. if one stands in fire, we all will. For better or for worse, La Familia will be here, firm and with no fear." Jenni Rivera's youngest son recently came out and admitted to being in a gay relationship after pictures of him and his boyfriend went viral on social media. López shared a video with all of his followers to try and have them understand and know more about him. "There’s been a lot said about me in the past few weeks," he said. "Things didn’t come out the way I wanted them to. It was a little bit of a mistake on my part, I wanted to make this video first and for everyone to understand me. My boyfriend, as you guys know, Joaquín… we both got a little too excited and he posted a few pictures of us and I retweeted them and they went viral and people started noticing that we were together. I am in a gay relationship right now and I am in love with this person."
Johnny also expressed how he has been battling with his sexuality for some time now. "I’ve been dealing with this part of myself for a long time now. Me and Joaquín -tomorrow is actually our 2 year anniversary- we’ve been back together for about 5 months now. We were split for about a year and a half and in that time I did experiment with girls and I tried different things here and there and I still don’t know my preference personally but I do know that I love this person a lot. Ive been in love with him for about two years now and I’m happy, I’m really happy, and it’s the happiest I’ve ever been."
