In just a few short months, Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez has put the world on notice.
The former Manchester United forward was left for dead at the end of the summer after being told by Old Trafford's manager, Louis Van Gaal, that he had a "one percent" chance of seeing the field this season.
With Chicharito's career in jeopardy, rumors of a move to the MLS or Liga MX ran rampant when suddenly, in a surprise move, Bundesliga club, Bayern Leverkusen came calling.
Experts questioned the move, but quickly the "Little Pea" proved his doubters wrong and has quickly rose the ranks as one of the world's best players.
Hernandez has scored an astonishing 18 goals in just 21 games this season for the German club, and netted Bundesliga's first hat-trick by a Mexican-born player early this week in a 5-0 route of Borussia Monchengladback.
Chicharito's scoring streak has caught the attention of some of the top clubs in Europe, and reports are coming out of England that Arsenal is looking to make a big push for the El Tri superstar this January.
Leverkusen would be crazy to let Chicharito go, especially after investing so heavily in marketing him across multiple platforms in Mexico, as well as reaching out to billionaire Carlos Slim to take an ownership role in the team. However, money talks and for the right price, Leverkusen would probably be willing to part with anyone.
We have to admit, a Chicharito return to the Premier League would be poetic justice and something as fans of the beautiful sport we would want to see come to fruition.
Hernandez has proved he can score in any league against any competition, so a move to Aresnal where he could stick it to Van Gaal and Manchester United multiple times throughout the year sounds like music to our ears.
To put Chicharito's scoring in perspective, his 18 goals across all competitions for Leverkusen this season are just three less than Manchester United has scored total.
Arsene Wenger would love to sign Chicharito, a player who is similar in fashion and skillset to Danny Welbeck. Additionally, Wenger would love an opportunity to take a scorned player from his closest rival in order to release his ferocious revenge on the Red Devils like a curse crashing down from heaven. Here's hoping it happens.
