Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is ready to end his goalless drought against his country's rivals. Chicharito is the second leading scorer in Mexico history, and has scored in World Cups, Champions League, La Liga, Premier League and now the Bundesliga, but he has never scored against the United States.
Hernandez has been on the pitch a total of 270 minutes in matches against the United States, but he has never been able to find the back of the net. The drought goes back three years, to August of 2012, at the Estadio Azteca, but the 27-year-old is ready to score on Saturday.
"I have to treat playing the United States like I'm playing any other team in the world," Chicharito said before the match. "It's a very special moment to represent my country, so if I play a friendly match, a Gold Cup or even the World Cup, I'm very blessed to represent my country."
Despite adjusting to life in Leverkusen, Germany, and helping lead his club team out of group play of the UEFA Champions League, Chicharito is only focused on beating the United States and helping his country win.
"Like I always say, the most important game of my life is the one I am going to play," he said. "For me, this is going to be the most important game because I am blessed and fortunate to be able to be in this position.
Mexico supporters are sure to outnumber the United States supporters at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, giving Chicharito more incentive to send the pro-El Tri crowd into a frenzy with an early goal.
Tune in to Fox Sports One on Saturday at 9:30PM EST, as we believe Chicharito will indeed finally find the back of the net for Mexico.
