The news of the death of Glee's Cory Monteith came as a shock to everyone, and those who knew him still can't believe he actually passed away.

Along the week, fellow Glee stars have expressed their sadness via statements, Twitter, Facebook and other outlets, directly or indirectly, and fans mourn the loss of an idol, an advocate of change, of being positive and true to yourself, a promoter of acceptance and tolerance, and a voice of a whole generation.

Although many of the show's cast members have put on a brave face and continued to fulfill their previously scheduled commitments, the sadness is imminent, and talking about Cory's passing brings a whole new spectrum of emotions, remembering a life full of joy and selfless acts, dedicated to help others and make this world a better place.

Just ask Jane Lynch, who on Wednesday night had a special appearance on "The Tonight Show," hosted by Jay Leno. Lynch looked to hold back tears as she told Leno that Monteith was "one of the biggest hearts" and "a real bright light."

"Cory's one of the biggest hearts, was a real bright light," she said, clearly emotional while speaking about him. "He was one of those guys that ... you know, he knew he was breathing rarefied air ... the gifts that this wonderful show gave us."

She noted that he was "one of those adventurous types of people. I always admired how he would get up ... you know, he'd fly to Mexico, he'd throw parties for his friends. And I don't think he left one day unlived. And he was a real bright light in our family and we've lost a really great guy."

Lynch highlighted the fact that Monteith "once flew across the country on his own nickel to meet with a sick kid who his last wish was to meet him. That's just the kind of guy he was. He was just a real giver."

Cory's body was found in his Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel room in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday. Officials confirmed that the cause of his death was a mix of heroin and alcohol after getting the results from the autopsy and toxicology report.
