The one-off Ferrari 430 Scuderia-based P4/5 Competizione owned by movie director and professional investor James Glickenhaus has stunned us for years.
Competing as a privateer in the 2011 24 Hours of Nürburgring in the GT2 category, the P4/5 was fast and set a lap personal lap record of 6 minutes 51 seconds. Development has continued since and now, Glickenhaus has confirmed that the P4/5 will return to the Nürburgring in late October with the goal to break last year's record lap time.
Even though the short term goals seem less than exciting, Glickenhaus hints that the P4/5 will be exploring some creative drivetrain upgrades by 2014. Glickenhaus plans to run an all-new version of the P4/5, this time to fit regulations to compete in the LMP1 class. Given the recent trends influenced by the Audi R18 e-tron quattro and Toyota TS030 Hybrid, it's likely that the new Ferrari P4/5 will utilize a KERS hybrid of some sort.
Actual developments on the car are unknown but the unveiling of the initial sketches suggest that Glickenhaus and his team are fully committed.
Ambition and commitment is one thing, but in order to compete in this level of competition, we expect Glickenhaus to attract a number of sponsorship agreements first. Given the opportunity to see a Ferrari mix it up in the elite category, we expect sponsor offers being thrown at Glickenhaus every second of every day.
