Hollywood lost an extraordinary man and an unusual leading actor who won the hearts of every TV owner in America and worldwide. But the truth is James Gandolfini was more than that.
"Jim had the ability, unbeknown to him, to make you feel like everything would be all right if he was around. I treasure my memories with him and feel so honored that I was an up close witness to his greatness," said Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played his daughter on "The Sopranos."

Edie Falco, who played Carmela Soprano, the unforgettable mobster's wife, said Gandolfini was "a man of tremendous depth and sensitivity, with a kindness and generosity beyond words."

"I admire Jimmy as a ferocious actor, a gentle soul and a genuinely funny man," said actor Brad Pitt, who worked with Gandolfini on "The Mexican" and "Killing Them Softly." "I am fortunate to have sat across the table from him and am gutted by this loss."

As many familiar names have expressed their feelings towards the loss of this "acting giant," there's a private mourner that is grieving the loss of someone who was more than one of TV's greatest actors. That's Michael Gandolfini, James' 13-year-old son, who was the one who found his dad while he was on cardiac arrest.

Michael and his dad were on a "guy's trip" for both pleasure and business. They were celebrating the kid's eighth grade graduation and the actor was set to attend the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily.

According to Antonio D'Amore, manager of the Boscolo Excedra hotel, Gandolfini's son found his dad collapsed in their hotel room and called for help. The 51-year-old actor was still alive when the ambulance arrived, but was later pronounced dead at the Policlinico Umberto I hospital. He arrived at the hospital in cardiac arrest, and while resuscitation efforts, which paramedics began at the ambulance, continued for 40 minutes, Gandolfini was pronounced dead at 11 p.m., local time.

Michael's mother and the "Sopranos" star's first wife, Marcy Wudarski, flew to Italy to be with her child, TMZ reported.
Gandolfini is survived by his wife, Deborah Lin, his 8-month-old daughter, Liliana, and his son, Michael.
