James Franco, “Of Mice and Men” star decided to publicly apologize for flirting with a teenage girl on Instagram. He made an appearance this morning on “Live! With Kelly and Michael.” He told Kelly and Michael, "I was feeling awkward -- I didn't want to come on the show and just feel awkward. I'm embarrassed, and I guess I'm just a model of how social media is tricky. It's the way that people meet each other today, but what I've learned -- I guess because I'm new to it -- is you don't know who's on the other end." He then continued on to say, "You get a feel for them, you don't know who you're talking to. I used bad judgment and I learned my lesson." The underage girl was visiting New York for a couple of days as a birthday present from her parents.
On April 3, photos came to people’s attention of an exchange between 17 year old fan Lucy Corde and the 35 year old actor. Franco was asking her “What’s the hotel? Should I rent a room?” She then replied thinking that his comment could have been part of an April Fool’s joke, he then responded by sending a selfie so she could see that it was really him.
"Unfortunately in my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but if I do that, then it gets published for the world so it's doubly embarrassing," he told Ripa and Strahan.
