A jailed man in Ontario, Canada, faces new charges after allegedly hurling his breakfast sandwich at a police officer just days after his arrest.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance at a motel on Causley Street around 2 a.m. Monday after receiving reports of a guest damaging property. Officers arrested Stephen Lawrence, a 42-year-old Midland man, at the scene. But the incident didn't stop there.
While in custody, Lawrence was given a breakfast sandwich.
"When an officer entered the cell area to speak with the accused, the sandwich was thrown at the officer," police said in a news release per local news.
The suspect now faces charges of mischief for property damage, assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, and causing a disturbance.
Authorities have not released further details. As of now, none of the allegations have been tested in court.
