Apple iWatch

According to Digitimes an alleged bill of materials for Apple’s upcoming iWatch has surfaced. This new information indicates that the product will launch in the third quarter of this year.

This new report claims that the iWatch will be manufactured by Apple supply chain Quanta Computer, while Richtek Technology and TPK will supply chips and sapphire touch panels. It is also said that the device’s processor will be developed by Apple, with chip production being outsourced to Samsung.

However, since the rumor of Apple releasing an iWatch contrary reports have been released. In November 2013, Quanta Computer was rumored to have landed a contract to mass produce the iWatch with a Q2 2014 release window, while a report last month claimed that Apple had chosen TPK to supply flexible AMOLED panels for the device.

The features and specs for Apple’s iWatch have yet to revealed but reports suggest that the device will feature biometric sensors to track a number of health-related statistics, including sleep activity, UV light exposure and heart rate.

If the Q3 release date is accurate then we may see a sneak peek of the product at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference this summer.
