Guy Martin TT
Guy Martin, Isle of Man TT TT3D

A tiny UK island in the middle of the Irish Sea, the Isle of Man held its first Tourist Trophy in 1904 as an automobile time trial event.

Now, FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) hosts the Isle of Man TT annually, earning itself a reputation as not only the most dangerous, but the most prestigious motorcycle race in the world. With a format featuring a time trial on public roads closed for racing, hundreds of racers, spectators and officials have lost their lives since the event's inauguration more than a century ago. This is not a race track. Speeding down a public street complete with high curbs, blind crests, telephone poles, manhole covers, and mailboxes, the brave athletes that conquer this unforgiving snake of pavement return home as heroes.

The Isle of Man TT course begins from the town of Douglas located at the south-eastern coast before winding west and north into Ramsey before returning back to the starting point. In total, each lap measures 37.75 miles, 3 times the length of the infamous Nurburgring of Germany. With more than 200 bends and turns within the course and with elevation changes from sea level to upwards of 1,300 ft, the Isle of Man is one of the most fearsome motorsport platforms on the planet.

Perhaps the biggest problem with the Isle of Man TT is its immensity and its difficulty to fully capture and package into any medium of broadcasting or media. Of course, many have tried, but according to motorcycling blog Hell For Leather, "TT3D" is the only movie to ever do Isle of Man any justice.

Never released in North America, the complete 1 hour 45 minutes of TT3D: Closer To The Edge is now available on YouTube.
