Irina Baeva is one of Mexico's rising telenovela stars, recently starring "Vino El Amor" opposite Gabriel Soto. With the divorce news of the latter from his wife Geraldine Bazán, the Russian-born actress was blamed for causing the split. Soto has already said there is no third person involved and now Baeva is coming out to debunk those rumors. "I think it's time to say how things are," she told "Hoy". "There's really nothing to clear up as Gabriel is a great friend of mine and a great human that I care for a lot. He's a great friend, we get along well. We've worked together on different occasions, but that's it. There's not much to say on this issue. He's going through a very delicate situation and I hope he's able to resolve everything for all the people involved."
When asked if Baeva has been in touch with Soto after the rumors about an affair came up she said: "It's a complicated separation. In this industry it's even more complicated, when they are both public figures, it's complicated by three times. I've talked to Gabriel, we've talked, we've always gotten well together, we are good friends. He has all my support, he knows it. I've always said it, that I will be there for whatever he needs, just like any other friend, but that's all."
Irina also added: "Gabriel Soto is my friend and I think that a split between two people only concerns the couple, it's not about finding someone to blame. I think that this is an issue for both of them and they will know how to resolve it."
As Irina Baeva is a fairly new face to the telenovela scene, she says that this scandal might affect her career. "I think that any woman, man or any other actor, something like this can affect them," she told the reporter. "What I am worried about the most is my career because I came to Mexico to work hard and the place I've gotten has cost me a lot of work and I can't allow for gossip like this -with no substance- to involve me in a story where I have nothing to do." Gabriel Soto denied being with his "Vino El Amor" co-star or any other woman for that matter. "I think they are trying to find someone to blame," Soto told "De Primera Mano" show. "Irina has nothing to do with my separation from Geraldine and there's no third person involved. The reason is that we have been carrying a lot of problems, complicated issues, that we tried, but ultimately -and for out well-being- it was the best."
Last week, Gabriel Soto took to Twitter to confirm the separation from his wife Geraldine Bazán. "Four months ago I started the separation process of the relationship I held for many years with my wife and the mother of my daughters, Geraldine Bazán," the presser says. "Even though we tried, a while ago, our relationship started fracturing."
"This decision has nothing to do with a third party, but it is precise to clear up that the consequences that were caused after I was involved in a story that I have rectified on all the occasions that I had the opportunity and I repeat again: I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT," he continued. "This process has been hard and difficult on both sides, I expect to go through it with respect, discretion, care and love to preserve the well-being and the harmony of our daughters that are our priority. All the situations in the life of a couple are absolutely between two people. This is why I ask and I thank all the press and people in advance, your profound comprehension and RESPECT for this situation."
